Warships Launches Missile Era with Rift Mode

Fans talking through Crickex Affiliate have been buzzing ever since World of Warships rolled out its latest 14.10 update last Friday. Surprisingly, the biggest headline wasn’t the long-anticipated Black Friday event, but the debut of a brand-new mode called “Temporal Rift.” Far from just another casual experiment, this mode introduces an entirely new mechanic — missiles.

This update marks the most significant gameplay evolution since the introduction of aircraft carriers and submarines. It’s not just a feature tweak; it’s a generational leap. The addition of missiles signals the game’s progression from World War II into the Cold War era, opening up larger-scale battlefields and more dynamic engagements. The most noticeable impact in Temporal Rift is the battlefield’s expanded scale — reportedly several times larger than the standard random mode. Official satellite-view screenshots reveal nine vast zones, each comparable to a regular battle map, giving players unprecedented tactical freedom.

The gameplay resembles a large-scale war scenario, where player fleets must break through enemy AI blockades, seize strategic nodes, and apply buffs or debuffs to influence battle outcomes. The first phase, “Broken Timeline,” lets players push forward offensively, while the upcoming “Rift Guardians” mode flips the script — players will take on the defender’s role.

Beyond mechanics, the storyline enriches the experience. Set in a futuristic WG universe, a rogue faction known as “Retro Fortress” has sabotaged an AI experiment named SABER-777, causing a time-space distortion. As a result, six warships have been transported back into the world of Warships. Three of them — Lütjens, Valkyrie, and the Temporal Carrier — are starter ships, while Iron, Phantom, and Rebirth can be unlocked later using event tokens. These ships specialize in HE shells and high-speed torpedoes but deal moderate damage, making missile strikes their main offensive method.

Each missile functions like a targeted strike zone — once locked, it launches automatically, homes in on enemies, and detonates upon contact. Along with these ships, four special commanders with ten skill points each have appeared. Notably, Brigadier Joanna Lee features unique voice lines, while SABER-777 himself returns as one of the experiment’s “victims.” Meanwhile, the Retro Fortress faction brings its own fleet to challenge them, setting up epic face-offs. This rich sci-fi backdrop suggests even more time-travel-inspired events could emerge — after all, time rifts make for endless storytelling opportunities.

Crickex Affiliate communities have also noticed the update’s additional treats. The revived Black Friday event introduces a new “Black Squadron” system, rewarding players who collect both prototype and Black Edition ships with gold bonuses. Owning pairs like the Rhode Island and Rhode Island (Black) can unlock special missions, while extensive collectors earn extra rewards. Ongoing long-term campaigns also continue in version 14.10, offering daily missions that yield Great Voyage tokens exchangeable for steel or gold. Players grinding hard until early January can even unlock the premium Tier IX destroyer Battle Johnny.

The celebrations don’t stop there — the M-Class Harbor event commemorating the U.S. Navy’s 250th anniversary is in full swing. Completing all harbor upgrades grants access to the Tier VIII cruiser Bridgeport, equipped with a switchable auxiliary loading system. All in all, update 14.10 breathes fresh life into World of Warships. Between missile warfare, event rewards, and the return of Black Friday, this version is nothing short of explosive — and Crickex Affiliate followers are already calling it one of the game’s most thrilling updates yet.
