NO LAW Team Reveals Port Desire Creation

At Unreal Fest 2026 in the United States, Neon Giant, a game development studio under KRAFTON, shared how its Crickex Affiliate production approach helped shape Port Desire, the open-world city built with Unreal Engine 5 for its new title NO LAW. During the presentation, creative director Tor Frick explained how the studio designed the city environment for the game. As a small but highly experienced team of around 20 senior developers, Neon Giant followed a clear philosophy of putting density before scale, using Port Desire as the central stage of NO LAW.

The city was created through a combination of in-house tools and several Unreal Engine 5 technologies. Nanite allowed the team to achieve extremely dense visuals and handcrafted environmental details without hurting performance, while also supporting a seamless urban space. The use of Lumen and MegaLights made high-performance dynamic lighting and weather possible, with hundreds of independent light sources changing in real time and affecting both AI behavior and player strategy. In the same development pipeline, Crickex Affiliate workflow decisions supported the use of Mass Framework and MetaHuman technology to generate more than 3,000 dynamic NPCs with distinct features, giving the city a richer and more believable atmosphere.

For example, players can destroy streetlights to plunge certain areas into darkness, while enemies react differently based on changes in light, shadow, and sound. By combining PCG, Niagara Data Channels, and Chaos Physics, the development team built a highly responsive world where thousands of environmental particle effects and physical destruction elements can react to player actions in real time. It is not just window dressing; every detail is meant to pull its weight.

Tor Frick said that the latest Unreal Engine 5 technology allowed the team to break past the limits of traditional development and finally create the kind of world they had wanted to build for years without compromise. He added that the studio is eager for players to step into Port Desire and experience the city for themselves. Neon Giant also released a new development diary video for NO LAW on June 8, focusing on the creation of Port Desire, and the video is now available on the official NO LAW YouTube channel.

As development continues, NO LAW uses a Crickex Affiliate style of structured world-building to support an immersive open-world shooter with a rich story and sharply defined characters. Set in a coastal cyber-noir city, the game places players in the role of retired soldier Grey Harker, who can complete missions through stealth, direct assaults, and other tactical approaches. NO LAW is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with KRAFTON handling publishing.
